Annual Picnic 2010
EXTRA, EXTRA, EXTRA! LEARN ALL ABOUT IT! YOUR ANXIOUS WAITING IS OVER! The annual picnic of the Bengali Association of Nebraska will be held on August 21, 2010 at the Lake Zorinsky shelter # 3. We would like to see members coming by 10:00AM to take advantage of the fun and to perk up the environment. Toilets and a children's playground are nearby. The menu is: Rice, dal, alu-bhaja/mixed vegetable curry, chicken curry, chatni. We will also arrange for a snack and tea to bring everyone in the bengali picnic mood. There will be various games for adults and kids, but the area is huge with many trees so if anyone wants to reminisce his/her sweet past, can certainly find the solitude.
Few reminders:
No alcoholic beverage is allowed in the park, and BANE will adhere to this rule strictly. This has been a BANE's policy from the beginning, and anyone violating this rule will be asked to leave.
Because the shelter is next to the deep Lake, parents must be vigil about their child/children. Accidents never rest.
The picnic is free for members who paid their membership for 2010. We will have the list to verify. The BANE expects that everyone 18 years of age and older should be a full-member of the association. Non-members are welcome, but they need to pay $5.00 to cover the cost of the food. Therefore, members who plan to bring non-member friends have the responsibility to collect the admission fee beforehand and give to Sumit Kar, Fund Raising chair or Samir Mukherjee, the treasurer. This approach will be more pleasant. The admission of visiting parents of members, who paid the annual membership, is complimentary. Please realize that the BANE is a member society and all its activities depend on members' financial support.
Careful budgeting is essential for our financial survival. Further, we want to cook enough food for all. We must have the head count to achieve these goals. Therefore, please send your response with number attending to Subroto Sengupta (
subroto.sengupta@gmail.com), our Secretary ASAP. Please be proactive and help reduce our stress.
